Lily hadn't known what to expect when Severus had marched up to her in the hallway outside Transfiguration. She knew that he had Herbology in this period and would most likely be late for class. It wasn't like Severus to get lost either.
He stopped a few paces from her, his face oddly determined. He cleared his throat before thrusting out an arm at her.
"Here, Evans," he said gruffly.
There, clutched in the outstretched hand, was a rose.
"It is for today's potion," he explained haughtily. "Fresh is better."
With that, he turned on his heel and strode off. Lily smiled knowingly. Severus was well aware that today was her birthday; and potions ingredients didn't usually require pink satin ribbons.
, for being so close and yet so far!
Severus being Severus and admiring Lily from afar. I had so much fun with this - teenaged Snape is one of my favourites. I just want to squish him all to pieces for being so stubborn and adorable at the same time. Hope you like it, m'dear!
Much thanks to JimX for keeping me company while I worked and clearing up my atrocious grammar (and spelling).
